Ken’s Take on the EMP Threat

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009 | by Ken Talbott

Dear Walk Show Family,

In the early 1960s, nuclear weapons testers in both the United States and the Soviet Union noticed that, when nuclear warheads were exploded high above the Earth, an intense electromatic pulse was emitted that did damage to electrical systems on the ground. The U. S. first discovered this phenomenon when it set off a blast 250 miles above Johnston Island in the South Pacific. Unexpectedly it destroyed a commercial telecommunications system in the Hawaiian Islands 900 miles away!

The Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP)

Our friend, Hal Lindsey, in his article, “EMP Attack: Overlooked Catastrophe,” stated

A nuclear weapon detonated 180 miles above the United States would generate an EMP pulse that experts say would instantly plunge half the country into the technological 1800s. All our electrical grids would be destroyed. . . . There would be no communications by satellite, TV, radios, telephones; no transportation as we know it, no water, no fuel, no electricity, no food, no stoves, no heat, no air-conditioning, no functioning hospitals, no elevators, no law and order, no computers, no banks, very little work force. In addition, there would be very few military weapons systems that would work.

As Katherine McIntire Peters reports in her article, “Commission Finds U. S. Vulnerable to Electromagnetic Pulse Attack“:

Now, a new report by the Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack warns that a nuclear attack aimed at crippling the nation’s technological backbone could be greater today than it was during the Cold War. Such an attack also would be easier to orchestrate, and potentially more devastating, than a direct hit to a major metropolitan area. . . . “The increasingly pervasive use of electronics of all forms represents the greatest source of vulnerability to attack by EMP. Electronics are used to control, communicate, compute, store, manage and implement nearly every aspect of U.S. civilian systems,” the commission reported.

“Should significant parts of the electric power infrastructure be lost for any substantial period of time, the commission believes that the consequences are likely to be catastrophic, and many people may ultimately die for lack of the basic elements necessary to sustain life in dense urban and suburban communities,” the report noted. [Commission chairman William R.] Graham noted that an adversary wouldn’t have to have long-range ballistic missile capability to deliver an EMP attack. Such an attack could be launched from a freighter off the coast of the United States, using a short- or medium-range missile loaded with a nuclear warhead.

“Iran, the world’s leading sponsor of international terrorism, has practiced launching a mobile ballistic missile from a vessel in the Caspian Sea,” Graham said.

Iran’s Potential EMP Attack on Israel and America

Iran has signaled its consideration of an EMP attack via their internal communiqués, their nuclear program, their ballistic missile R&D, and their Satellite capability. It is obvious to see that it would be their cheapest, most effective means to cripple their adversaries. . . and they have already stated who their adversaries are and how EMP might help them in neutralizing Israel, the U. S. and Europe.

By the same token, as our friend, Hal Lindsey, has suggested elsewhere, a pre-emptive EMP attack against Iran would most certainly turn the tables and eliminate the problem for a long time. Some say that this would not be a pre-emptive attack, but rather, a retaliatory attack, because Iran has already heavily engaged itself in not only the EMP technology development, but in the supply of arms to Hamas and Hezbollah in their mutual, active aggression against our ally, Israel.

Yet, since our new national leadership seems to be already signaling a Chamberlainesque politics of appeasement on almost all fronts, it is unlikely that the U. S. will do anything about the EMP until it is too late.

After all, our latest Democrat administration gave us Bill Clinton, who, against the counsel of his own intelligence apparatus, denied that there was any ballistic missile threat at all until seven and a half years into his administration, when he suddenly woke up with a start after we had squandered almost a decade of strategic missile-defense R&D progress. I have intimate, first-hand evidence of this from my experience with laser missile defenses, which the Clinton Administration actively thwarted throughout the 1990’s, in a pattern not dissimilar to that which Obama is advocating in his declared intentions of incrementally dismantling our military defenses — especially our R&D.

Replacing Character with Characters in Office

In the 1992 Presidential elections, the pollsters tell us that the American public made a conscious decision to discard matters of character in electing a President. “So what if the guy is a bum morally or a narcissist? All that matters is that he does a good job as President,” went the logic. It only followed that a person who had no ability or interest in resisting evil on a personal basis would have no ability or interest in resisting it on a national or international basis, either!

Now, the pollsters say that in our most recent Presidential election the voters discarded almost entirely not just the long-forgotten matter of character, but of life and death themselves! Consequently, we suffer the dismantling of our military defenses by two presidents who didn’t have fathers to teach them that evil and death-giving mentalities are to be resisted instead of embraced.

Israel’s Sampson Complex

Israel, however, might well consider an EMP attack on its adversaries. As Youth Communications Officer for the Armed Forces in Hollywood, I once spent an entire day privately one-on-one with the head of Israeli media (Army radio). He confided, “Israel has been accused of having a Masada [i.e,. suicidal] complex, but that is no longer the case. Now we are operating by a Samson complex. In other words [like Samson who pulled down the support pillars of a building holding 3,000 of his adversaries], if we’re sufficiently threatened, we’re willing to bring the whole world down with us!” In my way of thinking, that was a not-so-veiled allusion to nuclear weapons. And, this former tank-battalion commander who wept with his troops as they freed the Wailing Wall for the first time in 2,000 years in the 1967 Six-Day War, was to be taken seriously.

So, a pre-emptive Israeli EMP attack on Iran and possibly a regular nuclear attack on Syria would in no way surprise me. After all, the Bible prediction about Damascus has never yet been fulfilled: “Damascus will no longer be a city. It will become a pile of rubble. …. A palace of strangers is a city no more, It will never be rebuilt” (Isaiah 17).

When You Gonna Wake Up and Strengthen the Things that Remain? – Dylan

Absent Israel’s initiative, I gather from what I’m hearing that there are some things individuals can do to start shielding our homes, cars, computers, etc., and it is hoped that articles like this will at least prompt a few to start prayerfully developing prudent strategies that will render the church whole and helpful to our neighbors should such unthinkable things happen. Or, we could just go back to sleep.

Should We Pray for Obama’s Failure or Success?

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009 | by Ken Talbott

The prophets prophesy lies,
the priests rule by their own authority,
[the politicians promote ideological thrusts, money and power grabs in the guise of crisis management]

and my people love it this way.
But what will you do in the end? -cf., Jeremiah 5:31

This week World Net Daily co-founder Joseph Farah declared: “I do not hesitate today in calling on godly Americans to pray that Barack Hussein Obama fail in his efforts to change our country from one anchored on self-governance and constitutional republicanism to one based on the raw and unlimited power of the central state. It would be folly to pray for his success in such an evil campaign.”

I had mixed emotions when I read that! Please let me quickly explain why:

Most certainly, Obama is ceaselessly striving to “change our country from one anchored on self-governance and constitutional republicanism to one based on the raw and unlimited power of the central state,” yet he is only doing it because the people love it so!

The first thing Robin said to me while looking at the inaugural news was: “Why do you think they’re treating Obama so much like a king?”

Having contemplated this hard and long, with hundreds of indicators flooding in that Robin’s hunch about a “coronation” is valid (not the least of which is our nation spending four times more on Obama’s inauguration than ever before, yet in a time of economic collapse), I could only reply:

“Anarchy in the human spirit always creates the vacuum that ushers in dictatorship. It’s sorta like the kid who can’t handle the discipline at home, so he runs away and joins the Marines!”

As my friend, Winkie Pratney, says along with others, “A democracy thrives only in proportion to the number of righteous men and women in it.” Men and women who are not righteous will always feel the need for the benevolent dictatorship of a Nanny State. Of course, I cannot think of an historical instance where a dictator stays truly benevolent. I tend to agree with George Orwell’s statement in “Animal Farm”: “Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

Therefore, I cannot quite pray, as Joseph Farah recommends, that President Obama fails, for to do so would be to treat symptoms. Obama’s failure or success is irrelevant if the transformation of the electorate is left unaddressed. If, however, we pray that the spirit of Americans be humbled, that we repent, and that we allow the transforming power of the Spirit of Christ to be unleashed in our hearts, we would continue to get the kind of leaders we deserve, but we would, in Christ, start deserving better. True revivals always result in “throwing the bums out” - i.e., at least those bums whom themselves won’t repent.

We certainly must pray fervently for our leaders, but what kind of prayers? On November 2nd at “Ken’s Bloggin Views” on www.TheWalkShow.com, I wrote an article, entitled, “Why I Thank God for Obama,” which explained the nature of my prayers for Obama and the nation. As I stated therein in fuller detail, my conviction is that Barach Obama is merely helping an errant people in the creation of the vacuum that can only be filled by Jesus Christ. My prayers are, therefore, ones of thanksgiving for and blessing of Obama, with the secondary desire that he repent and the greater desire that we as a nation repent and attract godly leaders once again.

Repenting with you,

Ken

Find & Fulfill Your ‘Divine List’

Monday, January 19th, 2009 | by Ken Talbott

Lord . . . remind me that my days are numbered – how fleeting my life is . . . .
teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom
(Ps. 39:4; 90:12).

Dear Walk Show Family,

You and I don’t have much time left! I just checked the mortality rate in Seattle, and do you know what it is? One death per person! (For some reason, it always seems to be hovering somewhere around 100 percent!) It is of strategic importance that we get everything done we were intended to accomplish on this earth, and I suspect the timeline is shortening by the second!

GRANDMA TALBOTT HAD “A DIVINE LIST”

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. (Ephesians 5:15-17).

You’ve just got to hear the story of my grandma, Carrie Talbott, who was my Dad’s Mom. She was a godly woman who, among many other good deeds, taught a women’s Bible study in Seattle, Washington, for 50 years. My Dad and Mom met in a playpen at one of her Bible studies – both at age two!

Late in Carrie Talbott’s life, my Dad was visiting his Mom’s assisted-living facility one day, when Carrie made an interesting comment: “Billy, I have 37 more things left on my list!”

“What are you talking about, Mom?” Billy inquired.

“There are 37 more things I have to do on this earth,” she explained. “Letters to write, phone calls to make, gifts to give, people to visit, etc.”

My Dad didn’t think much more about it until about six months later, when one day he was visiting his Mom, age 87, and she brought up the subject again. Moments before Dad had been told by his Mom’s doctors that she had been given six months to live with a cancer that had been recently diagnosed. However, that was back in the day where doctors often refrained from telling their patients their diagnosis, and so my grandma was oblivious to the prognosis. As Dad kissed his Mom goodbye upon his departure that evening, she remarked, “Billy, I guess this is ‘good-bye,’ because this is the last time we are going to see one another! You see, tonight I’m going to go and be with Jesus!”

“Why, Mom, whatever would you mean by that?!” my Dad exclaimed.

“I finished my list!”

That night Carrie Talbott went to be with Jesus. She is one of those few people on this earth that could say, “It is finished! I’ve completed the work God gave me to do on this earth.” She had finished her list.

DO YOU HAVE A LIST?

The Apostle Paul said, “This one thing I do. . .” We say, “These many things we dabble in.” The Apostle Paul’s life made a mark. Ours makes a blur. –E Stanley Jones

Do you have “a list”? Actually, I am not here speaking about YOUR list, as in a “Bucket List”. If you and I are the initiators of our own lists, it’s horrifying to think that we could actually maneuver ourselves into the plight Jesus spoke of in Matthew 7:21-23:

Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

I am speaking here about the Lord’s list for you . . . the list that, in submission to the Lord, you then make your own! Let’s take Jesus as our model of a “list maker”: Jesus said He didn’t do or say anything except that which He heard the Father saying and doing:

I’m telling you this straight. The Son can’t independently do a thing, only what he sees the Father doing. What the Father does, the Son does. The Father loves the Son and includes him in everything he is doing.. . . I’m not making any of this up on my own. The Father who sent me gave me orders, told me what to say and how to say it. And I know exactly what his command produces: real and eternal life. That’s all I have to say. What the Father told me, I tell you. (John 5:19 & 12:49—The Message).

Further, we are told that “We have the mind of Christ,” (1 Corinthians 2:16), that we might know the thoughts of the Father for our lives. So, where’s your list?

MY FOOLISH LIST

I have my list, perhaps considered foolish by some casual observers of my life – sometimes even by me. The list is not fully focused, is not complete, and its tasks are not completed yet. But it is, I believe, getting closer on these fronts.

At the top of my list is this:

(1) Become like Jesus, through a Spirit-directed, cultivated intimacy with Him and His own.

Yes, if I were to sum up everything I have learned over the course of my life, as a husband, family man, communicator and businessman, I would have to affirm that “Everything flows out of a cultivated intimacy with Jesus Christ. He is no longer just the Prime Mover; He must be the All in All. When we get out of the way and allow Him to live His life through us, we come to embody our message, to see relational waves go out from us across the planet, and to experience the creation being released from its groaning under the curse of sin.”

All the rest of the items on my list flow out of this first item of Spirit-directed, cultivated intimacy.

For example, the second items on my list is to:

(2)  help others cultivate the intimacy with Jesus Christ that will result in their finding and fulfilling His “list” for them.

(3) Merging my business with my ministry, in what I like to call a “business-ministry.”

(4) Exploring what it means to create a business-ministry that will accomplish “even greater things” than Jesus did on this earth – in accordance with His promise to us recorded in John 14:10-14:

I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

For some inexplicable reason, for forty years now I’ve been burdened to ask “in the Lord’s name” what this promise of “even greater things” is all about – especially as it relates to my companion burden of building a “business-ministry.” After all those years of prayerful exploration, I believe I have made the single biggest discovery of my business life — a “business-ministry” that actually appears to be capable of doing “even greater things” than healing a leper or raising a Lazarus from the dead! I know it sounds incredulous, but, hey, I won’t laugh at you when you explore what “even greater things” He might be burdening you to include on your list!

Other items on the list are already underway, as in:

(5) Save and/or earn The Walk Show family one billion dollars through the Lifestyle Equity Builder’s (LEB’s) money-management, accelerated-debt-reduction, and investment-management system — certifiably the world’s most comprehensive and effective personal financial-management tool.

In slightly over one year our Walk Show family is already on the path to saving over $100 million dollars toward our $1B, 10-year goal. Indeed, many captives are being set free financially through the LEB business-ministry, yet so many have yet to hear about and implement this financial-life-saving service. To get back to the basics you may need to start with Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace University,” but when you’re ready the LEB will put an afterburner on your progress toward achieving your financial goals.

(6) Helping our Walk Show family free up multiplied thousands of dollars for the work of the kingdom through our Walk Show “Loan Watch Program,” where we guarantee the lowest possible rates (about half of what is charged by the well-advertised mortgage companies in the region), plus full disclosure of all fees (including those fees hidden by even many other mortgage brokers), and no unexpected changes in the game plan prior to closing (in contrast to about 40 percent of loan customers who get a bad shock at the closing table – sadly, even from many self-proclaimed “Christian” brokers).

LIST-FULFILLING IN THE LORD’S STRENGTH AND OUR WEAKNESS

My strength comes into its own in your weakness. . .It was a case of Christ’s strength moving in on my weakness. Now I take limitations in stride, and with good cheer, these limitations that cut me down to size—abuse, accidents, opposition, bad breaks. I just let Christ take over! And so the weaker I get, the stronger I become. (2 Corinthians 12:10, The Message)

Well, that’s my list — in part, at least. And, let me tell you: it is being accomplished in my weakness and the Lord’s strength. Sometimes I am grateful that the oldest, Egyptian origin of my name, Ken, means “Strong/Weak.” What a picture of my life! We should all be named “Ken” ?, because in the divine economy, we only become a channel of God’s strength through acknowledgment of our weaknesses.

I haven’t told you, but during the entire last three years we’ve done The Walk Show, I’ve been ill. And, the worst time of the day for me was the mornings when I did the show! Consequently, every single time I walked down the hallway to our radio studios at AM820 KGNW and AM570 KVI, I would repeat this verse: “Through Him who strengthens me, I am able for anything!” (Philippians 4:13)

The Lord has answered my prayer – then for strength and more recently for healing — doing more than I could have asked or thought.

WILL YOU FIND AND FULFILL YOUR LIST?

I don’t know about you, but I’m running hard for the finish line. I’m giving it everything I’ve got. No sloppy living for me! I’m staying alert and in top condition. I’m not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else all about it and then missing out myself. (1 Corinthians 9:26-27).

It is the purposes of God communicated by the Holy Spirit to our spirits, then, that make up the items on our “lists”.

When you breath your last, will you be able to say, “I finished my list!”? Is the Holy Spirit day by day revealing the thoughts of the Father through the mind of Christ to you? (See 1 Corinthians 2:16.)

As my spiritual Grandpa, Norman Grubb, used to say every morning upon waking, “Lord, what are You up to today and how can I be a part of it?” That’s how you get your list!

Then, it’s helpful to remember Michael Wells’ similar prayer: “Today is too big a day for a human; Jesus, come and be the divine in me!” That’s how you get the power to fulfill your list!

As Gordon Banks said at New Heart Worship Center recently, “Not my way; Your way, Lord!” That’s how you can be certain your list is authored not by your soul but by the Spirit!

And, as my “business-ministry” mentor, the late A. B. Walker put it so often, “In the purposes of God, a well-devised plan never lacks supply.” That’s means that the fruit of your list is divinely guaranteed!

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU CANNOT FINISH YOUR LIST

Now, there is an important caveat in this list-making scenario: None of us is actually guaranteed that we will be allowed to fulfill our complete list during our own lifetimes — at least, not from the vantage point of our present expectations. And actually, that’s the way it should be, for we are created to be a relational people, whose influence spreads from one person to the next so that no one person can get the credit for the ultimate work that gets accomplished.

[S]peaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work (Ephesians 4:15-16).

In the case of my good friend and business-ministry mentor, the late A. B. Walker, I find myself working on some of the unfulfilled items on A. B.’s list! In fact, before he died, A. B. expressed his burden that he hadn’t gotten his full message out yet. I pledged in my spirit to help make that happen. In fact, in my latest “Boom or Bust” article at www.TheWalkShow.com, I actually articulated what I believe A. B.’s vision to be for the “Rebuilding of our Business-Ministry Foundations.” In other words, his list has in some measure become my own. Isn’t that the way it should be?

I personally believe that it will take at least a couple of generations to complete all of the items on my own list. I take comfort from the promised, long-lasting effects when we commit ourselves to a relational ministry that mentors those who will ultimately, in Christ, help each of us to complete our lists!:

So, my son, throw yourself into this work for Christ. Pass on what you heard from me—the whole congregation saying Amen!— to reliable leaders who are competent to teach others. . . God will make it all plain (2 Timothy 2:2 ff.—The Message).

As I daily plod forward in the formation and fulfillment of my list, I am ever mindful of the Apostle James’ caution:

And now I have a word for you who brashly announce, “Today—at the latest, tomorrow—we’re off to such and such a city for the year. We’re going to start a business and make a lot of money.” You don’t know the first thing about tomorrow. You’re nothing but a wisp of fog, catching a brief bit of sun before disappearing. Instead, make it a habit to say, “If the Master wills it and we’re still alive, we’ll do this or that.” (James 4:13-17—The Message).

Picture in your mind a man on his deathbed. His son leans over to hear his Dad’s last words. Do you think the father will gasp forth: “I wish I had bought more crap!” or “I wish I had spent more time at the office!”? Most people live and die without a divine list.

You and I can, however, do our parts to help one another both find and fulfill our “divine lists.” I am praying for you, trusting that you will fully connect with the opportunities God puts before you toward these eternal ends.

Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness! (Matthew 25:23)

Are You Being Cursed by Fellow Christians?

Saturday, November 29th, 2008 | by Ken Talbott

Dear Walk Show friend,

I had intended to write a commentary on the mortgage markets and how The Walk Show “Loan Watch Program” can right now help you save big money and get full disclosure in the mad dash Americans are making to refi their mortgages before it’s too late, but another subject has become so pressing that I will restrict our Loan Watch offer to a P. S. at the bottom of this message, which is of an infinitely higher priority: “Christians Cursing Fellow Christians.”

CAN CHRISTIANS CURSE OTHER CHRISTIANS?

My wife, Robin, was surfing the Internet a few weeks ago and suddenly had a book title fairly jump out at her: Breaking Christian Curses: Finding Freedom from Destructive Prayers, by Dennis Cramer. She felt compelled to order it for me to read. It arrived on the very day when I received one of my life’s stark reminders that there was the very real possibility that I had been cursed in some major ways by fellow Christians, and that such “Christian cursing” had precipitated some major interferences in the quality of my walk with the Lord, my ministry to others, and certainly also my business dealings in the church.

But, I’m getting ahead of myself. First, I must tell you a short story.

About two decades back I was leaving a meeting in a non-profit corporation, and half-way down the hallway to the exit, I ran into an elderly lady Named Jean Kenoyer, to whom I introduced myself. We spoke for about thirty seconds. Come to find out later, this septuagenarian was a full-time intercessor for five key pastors in our nation. Subsequently Jean summoning Robin and me to her apartment, where she made the most surprising announcement: “When I met you in that hallway that day, Ken, instantly the Lord spoke to me, saying, ‘Jean, I want you to put your other intercessions on the back burner, and put Ken Talbott and his family on the front burner until further notice.’” Wow!

Accordingly, Jean invited me to an open-ended session every Monday morning for what proved to be one full year. At the end of that time, she informed me that the burden to intercede for me had been lifted, but that she had three things to tell me as the fruit of her year of unceasing, day-and-night prayers for me and my family. Some other time I’ll have to tell you about the first two startling, but right-on things she told me, but the third thing speaks right to today’s subject. Yet, it has taken me over 20 years to come into an understanding of the full import of her words, so I really couldn’t have done an adequate job of writing to you about this critical subject matter of “Christian cursing” until now.

The fruit of one whole year’s intercessions came to me in these words: “You must daily pray against false prayers being made against you!” She then explained that it was her perception that fellow Christians — certainly including some that were very close to us — were seeking to manipulate us and God by praying that we should conform to their soulish ideas of what we should be doing in our life and ministry on this earth. In essence, because these prayers were not being birthed in and from the Holy Spirit, they were issuing from another spirit – a spirit of darkness, a destructive spirit, or perhaps even a demonic spirit.

THE 20-YEAR-LONG CURSING “ACID TEST”

Oh, that I had fully comprehended the seriousness of what our dear Jean was saying! It has taken me about 20 years of failing to take her counsel seriously until the Christian-generated curses have been fully identified and shown to be no less serious than witchcraft. In fact, Breaking Christian Curses by Dennis Cramer will most certainly identify them Biblically as witchcraft! As Cramer explains, the goals of Christian cursing through false prayers were an attempt to pressure him in the following directions:

–To undermine my spiritual authority, my self-confidence, and my love for God’s people.
–To turn me into a weak, insipid, fearful, insecure, skeptical, calloused, hardened, unloving individual.
–To cause me to retreat, hibernate, disappear.
–To make me become a spiritual recluse, forever isolating myself from God and His people.
–To capture me dead or alive — but it would have preferred me dead!
(Breaking Christian Curses, p. 194)

Over the past twenty-some years since Jean Kenoyer’s warning, I have not remembered to daily pray against false prayers. During that time I have recently discovered how real, wicked, and effective have been the curses that have been prayed against Robin and me. I suppose it would be too much to ask of you to believe that what I am confessing is not just paranoia, bitterness or anger-generated. In fact, one of the fruits of discovering how effectively and consistently we have been cursed is that Robin and I have discovered ways in which we, too, have cursed fellow believers in our own misinformed, misguided prayers! Wow again!

Every culture on earth acknowledges that cursing issues from an evil source – except, perhaps, the culture of the modern American church. If you’re having a difficult time believing that Christians can through their prayers actually unleash demonic power as effective as other cultures recognize in their pins stuck in voodoo dolls, please don’t take my word for it: just order Breaking Christian Curses here. Of particular encouragement to me was that it took author Dennis Cramer a full 13 years before he fully recognized that Christians can and do curse with their prayers, and that he had been actually cursed by the Senior Pastor and minions of his own local church!

ARE YOU EXPERIENCING THE CONSEQUENCES OF A CHRISTIAN CURSE?

Oh, brother or sister, “Have you been a victim of another Christian’s hate, pride, bigotry, and prejudice? Have you felt the damning effect of the ‘Raca spirit’ (Matthew 5:21-22)? Have any unrighteous judgments been passed against you by other Christians? Have destructive words been spoken against you? Have other Christians wanted your ruin? Have any Christians attempted to ‘pray down fire’ on you? Do you have knowledge of such spiritual attacks?

“If you do, this knowledge can be of great value. This knowledge, combined with the correct action, will produce for you total freedom and release from all curses. Be encouraged! God has answers for you!” (Dennis Cramer, Breaking Christian Curses, p. 139)

One last hint of what you will find in this book: You will discover that “bitterness is logical.” Yes, people, indeed, do stinking rotten things to you – they steal from you, lie to you, defame you and even pray false prayers against you — in essence, curse you.” The book proves that this is an unfortunate, but Biblically described pattern of abuse in the church. So what are you going to do in turn? Are you going to follow the iron-clad “logic” of bitterness, cursing back those who have cursed you until both parties are destroyed? Needed is the power to overcome the iron-clad logic of bitterness. That power comes through the blood of the Lamb of God applied to your heart and responses. The ultimate hint?: Curses are effectively overcome by at least two fundamental necessities: (1) enthusiastically blessing and praying for those who have cursed you, and (2) getting the help of other Christians (like intercessor Jean Kenoyer and author Dennis Cramer), who will stand with you and support you as you apply God-authored power to demolish the satanic influence of Christian cursing through false prayers.

I know. Robin and I have helped greatly by my fellow servants, Jean Kenoyer, Dennis Cramer, and others, to spring us free from the bondages that Christian curses had effected in our lives. Hallelujah!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Ken (& Robin)

P. S. Okay, so I was going to write to you about The Walk Show’s “Loan Watch Program,” but I could not contain myself and just had to speak out on how to overcome Christians cursing Christians. The “Loan Watch Program” saves you thousands by certifying and monitoring the actions of mortgage loan officers in such a way as you: (1) get the lowest possible rates, (2) get full disclosure of ALL fees, and (3) get no unnecessary changes in the game plan between initial signing and final closing. There you have it! Just call me at 1-877-WALK SHOW [1-877-925-5746], and I’ll put you in touch with an honest, professional, monitored loan officer who has already served many well in our Walk Show family of listeners. Thank you!

“Why I Thank God for Obama”

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008 | by Ken Talbott

Dear Walk Show family,

Before the fall of the Berlin Wall, one day my 90-year-old “spiritual grandpa,” Norman Grubb, set me on edge with this passing comment: “I thank God for the communists!”
With a family background in the anti-communist movement, I must admit that I was stunned!

“Why on earth would you ever say that, Norman?!” I exclaimed.

“Because the communists have helped create a vacuum that can only be filled by Jesus Christ.” His words proved prophetic, as the gospel flooded across many borders with the fall of the Soviet empire.

Today I thank God for Barack Obama, because this very day he is helping create the political and spiritual vacuum that can only be filled by Jesus Christ.

Politics Reflect Culture, Not the Other Way Around

This campaign season I have received emails and phone calls from professing Christians who are championing opposing members of multiple political parties. For each, their particular candidate is the “right” one, and the others are “wrong.” It could easily baffle us as to how such Christians could come up with such radically opposing views — as if God were a Democrat, Republican, Independent or so forth. What is the source of all of this confusion carried out in the name of Christ?

In her epic worldview-analyzing book, “Total Truth: Liberating Christianity from Its Cultural Captivity,” author Nancy Pearcey makes an important observation concerning politics and culture. She says, “ . . . evangelicals often put all their eggs in one basket: They leaped into political activism as the quickest, surest way to make a difference in the public arena—failing to realize that politics tends to reflect culture, not the other way around. . . . Politics is downstream from culture” (p. 18).

Pearcey was once told by a member of Congress, “I got involved in politics after the 1973 abortion decision because I thought that was the fastest route to moral reform. Well, we’ve won some legislative victories, but we’ve lost the culture” (p. 19).

It is my observation that not only has the culture taken a downward spiral, but in the main American Christians have almost been totally assimilated by that disintegrating culture. Take, for example, our divorce rate. Chuck Colson points out that the number one divorce rate now belongs to Pentecostal Christians, with the atheists having better luck in their marital relationships. And, the worst (and best) business dealings I have experienced on this earth have been with professing Christians, so that when the pressure gets on, many have gotten revelations in the night to make their contractual yes’s into no’s. The word has even gone out in the secular culture: “Don’t do business with Christians: they expect forgiveness for anything they can do to you!” Should we also mention anything about the number of Christians who are getting abortions themselves? And, many American Christians have most obviously become assimilated into the political chaos.

Consequently, many American Christians’ lifestyles are largely disconnected from the Truth and hitched to the cultural lies that have become the idols of our age. It is only natural, then, that our “downstream politics” are all over the map, as we find ourselves reflecting the most diverse of often-opposing political opinions in the name of our small-“t” “truths” — a la the “What’s true for you is not true for me” relativism of this age.

“We the People” Get the Kind of Leaders We Deserve

The old maxim, “People get the kind of leaders (and government) they deserve” comes to mind when I witness the kinds of flawed political leaders many church-going believers are willing to settle for and even champion.

Do the bugs create the polluted swamp, or does the polluted swamp create the conditions that attract the bugs? According to the germ theory of disease, we are led to believe that “the bugs create the polluted swamp.” In other words, the bugs — whether they be germs, mosquitoes, con men or corrupt politicians — are seen to be the problem. Yet, is it not the other way around?  The polluted swamp attracts the bugs! If the germ theory were correct, how do we account for those people who spend their whole lives without catching a cold? Won’t a strong immune system slough off the bugs — whether physical, social or political? Yes, a sound body politic will “throw out the bums.” Such does not appear to be the case in this election. . . yet.

A Case in Point: Barack Obama, the Neo-Eugenicist

Take the people (including “Christians”) who by their polluted cultural swamp are now attracting a professing “Christian,” Barack Obama, the neo-eugenicist. As you may recall, eugenics sprang from Darwinism, in its teaching that natural selection was accommodated by a process of “the survival of the fittest,” where the strong overcome the weak. Eugenics is the philosophy and practice of self-directing human evolution in such a way as to positively affect the outcome — such as “purifying” the “fittest” Arian race by cleansing the gene pool of six million “weaker” Jews. Actually, the Darwinian eugenics bug first emerged in America with our involuntary sterilization programs for the weakest members of our society. But America eventually cleaned up its swamp and the bugs soon migrated to the polluted Nazi swamp of the Third Reich.

As Ben Stein discovered in his brilliant “Expelled” documentary on intelligent design (now on DVD), the experimental butchery of “inferior” Jews was carried out by German physicians out of a spirit of altruism, for they were, after all, “creating a better world by improving the human gene pool.”

Then there was Margaret Sanger, editor of the eugenics publication consulted by Hitler and the Nazis. After accomplishing her objectives in Nazi Germany, she moved to America and founded Planned Parenthood, operating under the identical eugenics philosophy.

If you look in the dictionary, you will find that “eugenics” was discredited in scientific circles due to the abuses of the Nazi holocaust. Yet, it is actually alive and well, having morphed into the abortion, infanticide and euthanasia movements of our time.

As Barack Obama recently promised to Planned Parenthood, his FIRST PRIORITY in office will be to sign the “Freedom of Choice Act,” which will extend federal abortion protection to all possible extents in America. You must see Obama’s statement to this effect at: http://beltwayblips.com/video/barack_obama_planned_parenthood_and_foca/

This is added to Obama’s past infanticide legislative initiatives in Illinois, and, if we were to follow a logical progression, I suppose we might easily expect Obama to someday announce his whole-hearted support of euthanasia. Perhaps unwittingly, the Obama focus appears to be upon a culture of death. We would be wise to be mindful of this focus as we entertain his proposals in other sectors, from his terminal fiscal policies to his declared intentions to curtail our civil liberties.

This would mean that the only difference between Hitler’s eugenics and Obama’s is that Hitler waited until he got into the highest office to murder his masses, whereas Obama has already facilitated the murder of his masses a long time before running for our highest office.

As Del Taggart says in his www.TheTruthProject.com series: “So, why does evil bother you, if you have a philosophy of survival of the fittest? Under the philosophy of the survival of the fittest, the mighty’s responsibility is to destroy the weak.” What a day we have arrived at where politicians are carrying out this agenda while calling themselves “Christian”! Actually, they are anti-Christs.

Given Obama’s neo-eugenicist war on the weak, I sincerely wonder just why it is that so many members of our society think that an Obama administration would not victimize them, if given the opportunity. He has already, for example, both declared and demonstrated his intent to undermine the Constitution in numerous areas—including our First and Second Amendment rights for starters. For me, that would mean the likely end of my career as a talk show host . . . if Obama gets his way under the misleading propaganda term, “The Fairness Doctrine.”

As Jacques Ellul pointed out in his book, Propaganda, the propagandist soon comes to despise the object of his manipulations—like the John despises the hooker after the deed is done. And, I sincerely wonder what the top political propagandist of our time has in store for us should we discover that we have been shafted on November 4th.

It’s Not About the Candidate; It’s About “We the People”

“For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God” (I Peter 4:17).

In my book, INPUTS: A Matter of Lifestyle or Deathstyle, I told the story of little Peter Mahoney, whose mom never fed him refined sugar throughout the first three years of his life. Then, at age three, he went to a Sunday school picnic, where some well-meaning lady fed him Kool-Aid. As fast as he drank it down, he vomited it right back up! Physicians have confirmed for me that such a reaction would be considered normal for someone not acclimated to a junk food diet.

As few as ten years ago most Americans would have immediately “vomited up” a Black Liberation Theology Marxist if he tried to promote his neo-eugenics and redistributive Robin Hood agenda for our nation. Yet, today I heard someone say, “So what if he’s a Marxist?” Many Christians are now even overlooking Obama’s diehard commitment to abortion and euthanasia — in essence, to eugenics. Indeed, the culture has shifted, and the politics of our culture have shifted with it. Much of the church has drunk the Kool-Aid not just once, but over a long period of time. Thus desensitized by the junk-food diet of sugar coatings, we no longer throw it up when we encounter the poison hidden within. And now we are looking at the consequences — spiritually, socially, and politically.

God Spanks the Church

The church in America may need a spanking, and I believe Barack Obama could well become just the man to do it. What happens when you demand a king? Well, if Samuel’s story is any indication (1 Samuel 8:10-22), you incur the King of King’s wrath. At the same time, God nevertheless granted the people their wayward wish anyway, along with its egregious consequences—which include the king ripping off the people, their wealth and their children.

It could be that America needs a good spanking. Perhaps the spanking is already underway, for in case we didn’t notice it, our country was largely nationalized in the past month. We are likely to soon become a full-blown socialist nation, which means a majority of our nation’s resources will go to the governmental leach, which has no concern whatsoever for the life of its host. . . “We the people.”

If this election keeps going the way the pollsters say it’s going, we can pray for mercy one more time, but we certainly deserve the spanking that it looks like is in store for us. Consequently, we may soon have the opportunity to thank the Lord not only for Barack Obama, but again for the communists — all in one.

Rebuilding the World-View Foundations after the Election

Nancy Pearcey, author of the must-read Total Truth: Liberating Christianity from Its Cultural Captivity, gave us a key to renewing our political future in response to the congressman’s comment that “We’ve lost the culture.” She said: “The most effective work . . . is done by ordinary Christians fulfilling God’s calling to reform culture within their local spheres of influence—their families, churches, schools, neighborhoods, workplaces, professional organizations, and civic institutions. In order to effect lasting change . . . we need to develop a Christian worldview” (p. 19). This is the only true means of filling the vacuum presently being created by our assimilation into the Godless culture and the opportunist politicians it attracts.

The purpose of a worldview study is nothing less than to liberate Christianity (most certainly including its politics) from its cultural captivity, thereby releasing its power to transform the world. Two building blocks Robin and I have discovered for this post-election rebuilding process are:

1) The Truth Project DVD Series: In September of this year, Robin and I were privileged to take a one-day training in Focus on the Family’s Truth Project.  This turned out to be an exceptional set of training DVDs used once a week for twelve weeks with a home group interested in developing a Kingdom worldview. You can get a sneak peak of this at www.thetruthproject.org, where you can click on the trailer box.

2) Total Truth: Liberating Christianity from Its Cultural Captivity book: Everyone has a worldview. It governs your thinking, even when you are unaware of it. In Nancy Pearcey’s new book, Total Truth, she so aptly describes it: “Genuine worldview thinking is far more than a mental strategy or a new spin on current events. At the core, it is the deepening of our spiritual character . . . . It begins with the submission of our minds to the Lord of the Universe. The driving force in these studies should be a commitment to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind” (Luke 10:27). God is not just the Savior of souls, He is also the Lord of creation. One way we acknowledge His Lordship is by interpreting every aspect of creation in the light of His truth.  “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2).

Praying and pulling for you this election week,

Ken

“Whatcha Up To, God, & How Can I be a Part of It?”

Thursday, August 14th, 2008 | by Ken Talbott

One of the big influences in my life was one of my “spiritual grandpas,” the late Norman Grubb, for a generation the International Secretary of the Worldwide Evangelization Crusade (or WEC). Not only was I influenced by his many amazing books, including Rees Howells: Intercessor; Once Caught, No Escape (his autobiography); God Unlimited; Who Am I? ; The Spontaneous You; The Law of Faith; Touching the Invisible; and Yes I Am (available at TheWalkShow.com), but I was personally impacted by his amazing life. He worked 20-hour days, and at age 90 when he last stayed in our house, he could still work circles around any four or five guys my age in our 40’s, speaking four or five times a day as for years he travelled extensively throughout the United States and England.

NORMAN GRUBB’S SECRET

Norman had a secret to living that made his life so contagious that all of my kids — including even one “rebellious teenager” at the time — came to me individually and corporately, veritably begging me that Norman be adopted as our grandpa and “live with us forever!” I believe Norman’s secret unquestionably contributed to his eventual 98-year longevity. Norman’s secret was really not a secret, however, for he declared it from the rooftops for several decades, yet it was at the same time a mystery that was extremely difficult for thick-skulled people like myself to grasp.

Yet, his life also demonstrated his secret, as when he first walked into my sunken living room without perceiving that it was sunken and did a complete somersault flip! Thinking I would have one busted-up, upset 90-year old on my hands, you can imagine my surprise when Norman bounded to his feet with a grin on his face and a spontaneous joke springing from his lips?!

Although there might be many ways to state Norman’s secret, perhaps one way was, “He recognized he was the cup and not the coffee!” He saw himself as a container, or channel, of divinity, not as divine — as “Jesus in the Norman form,” as he would often say. In essence, his secret was the same as the Apostle Paul’s: the “mystery of the gospel, which is Christ in you” (Colossians 1:27).

Accordingly, Grandpa Norman said he woke up every morning for decades with this prayer on his lips:

“What are you up to today, God, and how can I be a part of it?”

After several years of periodically and mechanically imitating Norman’s prayer when I awoke, recently I found the prayer itself welling up from within me without effort as my first waking thought. What a joy! And, let me tell you: when the Holy Spirit pours that prayer through your “container” and back up to God, there is so much of a flow left over that it spills out on the situations and people your life touches!

The overflow turns the seen unreality all around us into the unseen reality. It takes the flips into the “sunken living room of life” and converts them into hilarity! Why, it has even messed with my interpretation of the Scriptures, for I distinctly thought I heard the Holy Spirit say, “You have heard it said, ‘Where there is good, evil lurks close at hand’ (Romans 7:21) but I say unto you, ‘Where there is evil, good lurks close at hand,’ as well!”

So, let’s not be altogether esoteric here; let’s convert this mysterious secret into the life of the common day — today . . . er, in this case, my yesterday!:

When I first awoke yesterday morning, there it was: “Lord, whatcha up to today, and how can I be a part of it?” The next thing the bank called me and said that all night someone in France had been making charges on one of my business credit cards! Uncharacteristically the words welled up within my spirit, “Hallelujah! What an opportunity to see God move!” I had no idea what God was up to here, but by faith I could be certain it included conforming me in my responses to the image of His Son in me. I am also grateful that the Holy Spirit guided me to pick a bank with a robust fraud-alert system, plus Pre-Paid Legal’s Identity Theft Shield that can clean up all the mess that my bank might not be able to.

In the meantime, by day’s end the bank had actually done a favor for me that helped me solve a cash flow challenge I had been pondering the night before. I wouldn’t have been able to sleep like a baby that night before had I not long-since learned that Christ in me was not worried about either the economy or my finances. There it is again – that secret mystery of Christ in me! I am, after all, Jesus in the Ken form, and where there is evil, God’s greater good “lurks” close at hand!

Hey, that was but the first of several volleys of good and evil that hit Jesus Christ in me yesterday. The long-anticipated implosion of the Lakeland, Florida, healing revival (predicted on our July 14th radio show at the TheWalkShow.com archives) required that I now switch gears from a ministry to the deluded to the devastated and disillusioned. The legal notice that I was not allowed to state the clear and evident truth on The Walk Show about the healing effects of various nutritional products provided the embryo for a whole new strategy for returning to freedom of speech in the midst of the medical despotism of our government. And on and on. In each of that one day’s challenges, our Lord Jesus Christ proved faithful to live His life through me to the degree that I would just remain a container and let His life flow through mine.

I admit that several times during yesterday’s long day with its multitude of problems, I felt very weak, overwhelmed or confused. Yet, as I walked forward by faith and not by sight — passing through what I like to call “the weakness threshold” — problems gradually morphed into breakthroughs, and sometimes almost irrationally I actually felt myself becoming excited when I got hit with yet another really bad-looking volley! “Wow! The power of the universe backs me as I (a little Christ in Him) convert each evil into God’s good, better and best!”

The day that started out in weakness with “Lord, whatcha up to today, and how can I be a part of it?” progressed with a living demonstration that “Through Him who strengthens me I am able for anything,” and ended up with the prayer, “Thank you, Lord! You certainly do ‘work all things together for good’ for those who love you and are called according to your purpose!”
